Thanks Gene. Yes, I did make sure the set screw was on the flat part (I did mess that up at first, but I fixed it). I went ahead and greased the pinion and transmission input gear thoroughly, and it helped a little bit. Still doesn't sound great. Any suggestions?

I’m going to suggest a couple of obvious things to check that you have probably already tried but - is the set screw for the pinion gear is sitting on the flat section of the shaft? Next have you checked the shaft , without the pinion gear on it, for a wobble? Possibly the bearing in the motor is b...
